Quote from spookthehamster :When it comes to the Lexus hybrids it isn't so much about actually being green as it is about seeming to be green.

Exactly... it's all about marketing and looking like they're doing whatever the public perceives to be 'the right thing'.

Quote from Minimaxman :I don't think that's correct. The only time racers in real life are likely to press the brake before a corner is if at the exit of the previous one they run over the rumble strip or something equally bumpy. There's a chance that this could dis-lodge the pads in the calipers slightly, meaning there's a bit of a gap between them and the pistons. So, they'll simply brush the brake pedal with their left foot, such a small amount that it has no effect on their speed / acceleration, but just enough so the pistons take up the slack between them and the pads.

How you have described it here is closest to how I understand it. Just improves the response when you first start braking if you do this. I really don't think they're testing to see if their brakes still work! A tiny tap on the brakes isn't going to give you any idea whether they will work when you really lean on them....

Quote from St4Lk3R :Oh, cool. Someone's driving a Red Bull F1 car on some closed roads in a big city. Yes, closed. There were police cars / bikes on every junction.

Nowhere did the original poster claim that the streets weren't closed! The thread says it's an open wheel car on the street, and that's exactly what it is... Good detective work though figuring out the streets were closed It didn't look like anyone was trying to hide the fact to me

I'm not going to get into the e-penis competition that's going on here; you guys have fun with that...

Just wanted to chime in and say that my Mum's VW New Beetle has ABS in reverse.

I think it would be just as bad, just longer

Quote from S14 DRIFT :You big girl. Done 2284 in 3 months.

You little boy. Done 14,000km in 4 months!

I like the look of your SV obsolum. My Kawi 650R is off the road for the winter... have been times when I've wanted to ride it in the last couple of months, but we've had 2 1/2 feet of snow in the last week so I'm quite happy that it's in the garage right now! Looking forward to next season though, and hopefully a couple of trackdays.

The only one I've played for any length of time is NFS 2 SE. Loved that game. You actually had to slow down for corners!

Not great publicity with the olympics on the way is it...

Quote from GrIp DrIvEr :oh yeah, BTW, USA is in the lead in the SSC Ultimate Aero TT. We hit 256, and were not done yet.

Are you part of the development team for that car or something, is that why you're using 'we' not 'they'? Or are you just trying to get a bit of their glory because you happen to be from the same country as the team who are building the car?

Very happy to hear about the limited setup options and finishing touches on the VW. Have a good xmas devs and try to take some time off for the holidays! Those of us who are not spoiled brats will certainly not be upset by the delay.

Another way to think about the Scirocco... even if you don't like the car, it's set a new standard for the quality of the car interiors, it's provoked changes to how the wheels are drawn, how the disc brakes look, and how the shadows are drawn. Even if you don't use the Scirocco you will see the benefit of these things. And it'll bring in some new members which will help keep the dev team sustained while they work on other things you DO want to see in LFS. I know it's hard to think of all these things when you're trying to be as negative as possible though...

If everyone started a thread when there was something they didn't like, this place would be terrible. Fortunately not everyone feels the need to express their displeasure in a separate thread when there's already a perfectly good thread going on about the same car.

Fantastic detail on the new car... The interior is stunning, and little details like the disc brakes and caliper looks very nice too. Starting to take LFS cars to a new level, nice to see.

That photo of the blue race Scirocco with the number and Nurburgring map on it is very nice! Someone should make a skin of that in LFS

Quote from piggy501 :You can check emails on your iPhone, can't you?

Yes you can... I wasn't saying the iPhone is any less capable than a blackberry, just that it has a lot of novelty value as well as its functionality, which the blackberry doesn't have

Quote from piggy501 :Because an iPhone gains ultimate respect as far as I have observed. Walk into a room and say "I have a new iPhone" and the room goes quiet.

Say you have a blackberry and you are classed as a businessperson.

Yeah I just got a blackberry and the exciting thing about it for me is that I can get my emails wherever I am, and keep on top of my business without needing to be home all day. I have a friend with an iPhone and he seems to be most excited by the fact that you can make it make a cowbell sound when you swing it wildly, and that you can play table hockey on it with a friend. It's undeniably cool, and way cooler than a blackberry, but all I need is to be able to check my emails on the go so I'm happy!

You need to change your mental view of your ability. By saying you can't go any faster, you will not be able to go any faster. As soon as you start saying "I can go faster", you will be able to open yourself up to new possibilities!

Do I sound enough like Dr Phil? Hahaha...

On a more helpful note... if you're playing as much as you are, and not getting faster, try something different. Doing the same thing over and over will likely lead to the same results... so maybe try a bunch of different setups, try focusing on using all the track, try being extra smooth, try only lifting slightly in places where you lift right out of the throttle, try just lifting in places where you currently brake. The beauty of a sim is that you can try absolutely anything you like with no repercussions. So experiment!
